Bluebird Houses

The Sparrow-Resistant Bluebird House is based on the trusted Troyer Sparrow-Resistant Bluebird House design, designed to keep sparrows out while still welcoming bluebirds in. Its unique slotted entrance lets in sunlight, which sparrows hate, and prevents males from blocking the opening and trapping female bluebirds inside. The built-in nest tray also reduces space inside the cavity — making it less appealing to sparrows. Made from recycled plastic lumber and secured with stainless steel screws, this house will last for years without cracking or rotting. Easy to mount with included hardware, it's a smart, durable way to protect the birds you love most.

Slot Opening Size: 1 3/16" x 3.5"

To mount your bluebird house, you have two easy options:

Option 1: Use a 7-foot long, 3/4-inch metal electrical conduit (available at most hardware stores). Simply push or drive it into the ground about 18–24 inches deep so it's stable, then attach the house near the top.

Option 2: Use a 36-inch ground stake and slide a 5-foot long 3/4-inch conduit over it. This makes setup easy and adds extra support.

Both methods give your bluebird house the right height and stability for a safe nesting space.

When it comes to bluebird nesting, design matters more than decoration. The Gilbertson Bluebird Nest Box is one of the most proven nest box designs ever created — trusted by bluebird conservationists for decades and NABS Approved for proper nesting success.

This nest box follows the original Gilbertson design, offering the right interior space, ventilation, and drainage bluebirds need to feel safe and raise healthy broods. Its simple layout encourages faster nesting while making monitoring and seasonal cleaning easy for you.

Choose between a natural cedar roof for a classic look or a poly lumber roof for maximum weather resistance and zero maintenance. Both options are built to handle years of outdoor exposure.

Whether you’re starting a bluebird trail or adding a trusted box to your backyard, this is a proven, no-nonsense nest box built to support bluebirds — season after season.

Cavity Size: 4" x 7.25"
Entrance Hole 1.5" diameter

To attach or remove the PVC cavity from the roof squeeze the sides towards the top edge, this will allow it to slide on and off the protruding screws on the bottom of the roof.

To mount your bluebird house, you have two easy options:

Option 1: Use a 7 to 8-foot long, 1/2-inch metal electrical conduit (available at most hardware stores). Simply push or drive it into the ground about 18–24 inches deep so it's stable, then attach the house near the top.

Option 2: Use a 36-inch ground stake or rebar and slide a 5-foot long 1/2-inch conduit over it. This makes setup easy and adds extra support.

Both methods give your bluebird house the right height and stability for a safe nesting space.

House Sparrows can quickly take over traditional nest boxes, leaving bluebirds with nowhere safe to nest. This Slotted Cedar Bluebird House is designed to help prevent that.

Inspired by the trusted Troyer sparrow-resistant design, the slotted entrance allows more light into the cavity, which House Sparrows may find less appealing. The wide slot also helps prevent a male sparrow from blocking the entrance and trapping a female inside. No nest box can completely prevent House Sparrow activity, so regular monitoring is still important.

Crafted from Eastern red cedar with rust-resistant hardware, this house offers natural insulation and a classic backyard look.

Choose between two roof options:

Cedar Roof: Provides a traditional, all-cedar appearance that blends naturally into the landscape.

Poly Roof: Offers greater long-term durability and requires less maintenance. Since the roof is often the first part of a cedar birdhouse to weather and deteriorate, the poly roof is a smart choice for customers who want the house to last longer outdoors.

Slot Opening Size: 1 3/16" x 4"
Interior Cavity Size: 4" W x 4.5" D x 6.25" H

To mount your bluebird house, you have two easy options:
