About Us
At Bird Haven, our story is steeped in generations of family craftsmanship, a lifelong love for birds, and the simple joy of nature right outside your window.
Richard’s passion for birds began as a teenager, building birdhouses and feeders in the corner of his family’s Amish woodworking shop. What started as a quiet pastime quickly became a calling—one rooted in tradition, care, and a deep respect for the outdoors.
Emma Lou grew up on an Amish family farm where bird feeders were always full and birds were a daily joy. Watching cardinals, finches, blue jays, and woodpeckers gather became cherished childhood memories—moments that now inspire our own family rituals.
Today, that legacy continues. Richard’s younger brother Matt, 15 years his junior, proudly carries forward the family tradition, handcrafting many of the birdhouses and feeders we offer. Even Richard’s retired father lends a hand, bringing decades of experience and heart to each piece.
As a husband-and-wife team, we’re raising two young boys who are just as hands-on—filling feeders, spotting nests, and carefully packing your orders. Bird Haven isn’t just a business; it’s our way of life.
Our hope is that the products we’ve poured our hearts into bring the same sense of peace, wonder, and connection to your backyard. Whether you're a seasoned birder or just starting out, we invite you to make Bird Haven part of your own story.
From our family to yours, welcome to Bird Haven.
