Quick Install

No pre-drilling needed.

  1. Place the notched edge of the perch on the bottom edge of your feeder.
  2. Attach the perch using the included Phillips head screws.
  3. Use a standard screwdriver or screw gun to secure the perch.

The screws are designed to bite securely into the material. Pre-drilling is not recommended because it may reduce how well the screws hold.

Why Aren’t the Holes Pre-Drilled?

We do not pre-drill holes into the feeder for two reasons:

  1. The included screws are designed to bite directly into the material for a secure hold.
  2. Leaving the feeder undrilled lets you choose which side you want the perch installed on without adding unnecessary holes.

Important Notes

  • Adding a perch may reduce starling resistance by giving starlings extra grip.
  • For best starling resistance, remove the perch once your bluebirds are actively using the feeder.
