Bluebird Feeder Perch Add-On

$17.99

Color: Blue

The Bluebird Feeder Perch Add-On creates a simple resting spot that can help birds feel more confident entering your feeder the first few times. It’s a small upgrade that can make a big difference — especially if your bluebirds need a little help getting started.

Made from eco-friendly recycled poly lumber, this perch won’t crack, rot, or fade. It installs easily using a few Phillips head screws and can be attached with a standard screwdriver or screw gun. Designed to fit our Gilbertson-style bluebird feeders.

Installation Note:
No holes are pre-drilled into the feeder. The included screws are designed to bite securely into the material, and pre-drilling can actually reduce holding strength. Leaving the feeder undrilled also allows you to choose exactly where you want the perch placed without adding unnecessary holes.

Perches are shipped separately and not pre-installed, even when ordered with a feeder.

Important: Adding a perch may reduce starling resistance in areas with heavy starling pressure, as it can provide extra grip. We recommend removing the perch once birds are actively and confidently using the feeder.

Eco-Friendly & Durable

Our poly lumber is crafted from High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), an eco-friendly material made from recycled post-consumer plastics like milk jugs and detergent bottles. Each piece is thoroughly cleaned and purified to over 99% pure HDPE before being transformed into strong, long-lasting board stock—perfect for creating durable, weather-resistant birding products.

Why Choose Poly Lumber

Poly lumber is an eco-friendly, non-toxic material made from recycled plastics—designed to last for years without the maintenance or risks that come with wood. It’s one of the safest and most durable materials you can choose for your backyard birds.

Benefits of Poly Lumber:

  • Safe & Non-Toxic: Unlike pressure-treated or painted wood, poly lumber contains no harmful chemicals, pesticides, or finishes that could endanger birds.
  • Non-Porous & Easy to Clean: The smooth, sealed surface won’t absorb moisture or bacteria, helping prevent the spread of diseases like salmonella.
  • Weather & Rot Resistant: Stands up to rain, snow, and sun without cracking, warping, or fading.
  • Low Maintenance: No sealing, painting, or staining—just occasional cleaning to keep it looking new.
  • Eco-Friendly: Made from recycled plastic, reducing landfill waste and helping protect the environment.
  • Built to Last: Resists moisture, insects, and mildew, providing years of reliable use for both you and your feathered visitors.

It only took the bluebirds one day to figure out how to use this feeder!! I give them 20 live calcium dusted mealworms in the morning. When I whistle, the mama leaves the birdhouse and flies to the feeder! I also love how the starlings cannot get into it!!! Thank you for this wonderful feeder!!

Our Bluebird feeder already had perches on 2 sides, but when we watched our parent Bluebirds try to teach their babies how to enter the feeder, we noticed they struggled for something to land on/attach to since they had not yet perfected their flight skills. We ordered a set of 2 perches to complete our bird feeder with landing platform ALL AROUND.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MADE !
I may add, here, our surprise that the folks @ Bird Haven knew exactly WHICH SET TO SEND (the 2nd set fit perfectly !) !
THANK YOU !

Blue birds seem to like the perch on bird feeder.

Thank you! It worked just as you said and keeps the blackbirds out. The bluebirds figured it out quickly as did some of the smaller birds! We were very tired of the blackbirds stealing all of the mealy worms.

Added these to the feeder to help new bluebirds and the youngsters find their way in rather than have to learn to fly between the rails. They have worked exactly as I hoped. The birds land on them and then work their way in to the feeder. After a couple of times landing, they just fly through the rails to the food. You make a well thought out, sturdy product that should last for years. I believe that anyone having problems getting the bluebirds to the feeder should probably try these add on perches. They worked for me.

Definitely worth getting. The birds can get into the feeder easier with these added on. I noticed they go to the sides with the extensions rather than the sides without.

Easy to install and provides the birds a place to land before entering the feeder. They should be part of the feeder vs having to buy separately, but definitely needed!

Thanks for the feedback, and glad the perch set helped your bluebirds get comfortable with the feeder.

Many bluebirds use the feeder without perches, but they can definitely help hesitant birds adjust at first. Once the birds are confidently using the feeder, we recommend removing them.

We appreciate you giving them a try!

I love both the bird feeder and the perches that add an accent to it. I wanted them to have somewhere to sit while sampling the mealworms. Haven’t seen them eating yet; however, it has only been up a couple of days. It may take a while for them to find it. I adore my bluebirds! And my feeder!

The Bluebird Feeder Perch Add On really made the difference as an addition to the Birdhaven Bluebird feeder. It allows the Bluebirds a momentary perch making it much easier for them to enter the feeder entry bars. before they were hovering at the bars and not going in. a must have.
